Nickel Chloride is green colored crystalline compound which is known to have molecular formula NiCl2.6H2O in hydrated form. It is odorless in nature and shows density of 1.92 g/cm3 with melting point of 140 degrees Celsius. This compound is soluble in water & ethanol and shows insolubility in ammonia & nitric acid. It has monoclinic crystalline structure and finds most common application in organic synthesis. Nickel Chloride is also used for electroplating nickel on other metals with superior effectiveness.
